What
is a mail alias?
An
alias serves as an alternate email address for a person. It is usually
easier to remember for the sender and the receiver to give out.
Your directory entry creates the association between the alias and
where you receive your mail. By modifying the mail forwarding address
in your directory entry you can control where the mail sent to an
alias will be received. Thus, you can change where you receive your
mail without the need to notify people of the new address. At NJIT,
the alias will generally take the form: first.i.last@njit.edu. You
may check on your alias by reviewing your directory entry and looking
at the fields: "Displayed Address" and "Other Addresses."
