What is my "mailbox quota" and what happens when I get over it?

Your "mailbox quota" is the total amount of space allocated to you for all your mail folders, including your "Trash" folder. The standard quota for Mailhost is approximately 52MB. The standard quota for ADM is approximately 100MB.

If you are forwarding your mail someplace else then you are not affected by the quota unless you selected "Copy & Forward to:" for your mail forwarding. Your quota will be whatever the policy is where you have forwarded your email. (For instance, if you forward to a Hotmail account, your quota there is only 2MB.)

If your mailbox is at or over quota, all your email will be bounced back to the sender stating that the message cannot be delivered as follows.

Recipient address: user1234@mailhost.njit.edu
Reason: recipient reached disk quota

We will also notify you via email when you have used 95% of your mail capacity (when around 2 or 3 MB are left). You can check your current quota status from the Web interface (https://webmail.njit.edu).

You can not check your mail quota for ADM. Please contact the Helpdesk if you have any questions.
